Planning for your Duke of Edinburghs Expedition

1. Groups need to consist of between 4-7 members.

2. The group needs to complete the training (Sylubus available from web or I can email a copy again).

3. Group needs to plan route and prepare route card to allow 6 hour activity each day and cover 15 miles (or equiv km) with 1 night camp. I am willing to carry out an initial check on route cards as this will help leaders and the assessor (whether or not I'm the assessor!) so electronic copies would be useful.

4. Group needs to book a date (during British Summer Time) but in conjunction with an assessor (not a member of same unit, family or person providing most of the training) and camp site.

5. Notify the District Adviser so that we (the district) can keep an eye on progress on the award.

 

Point 4. can prove a stumbling block if everything else is in place but there is no one to assess and supervise the expedition.
